The Nigerian police began the trial of five police officers involved in the extra-judicial murder of Mohammed Yusuf, the leader of Boko Haram at the federal high court in Abuja.
The police officers shot and killed Yusuf after his capture in 2009. They later claimed he died in a gun battle.
