Bomb scare at UNIJOS students, workers flee admin block

Barely 74 hours after suspected Boko Haram members allegedly planted a bomb at National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp, University of  Jos was yesterday jolted over bomb scare.
Sources told Saturday Sun that following the bomb scare, the administrative block of the university was evacuated.
A staffer of the university, whose office is located at the administrative block, revealed: “We saw a strange man coming out of the admin block and we wonder what the man came for. The strange man does not look like any of our staff or students.”

He added: “When we went towards the direction of office he was coming, to find out if such person came there, we found out the suspect was not known as a staffer or visitor.

“We became afraid because before we came back to ask the man his mission, he was no where to be found. The man disappeared into thin air. This development scared all the staff of admin block and we had to vacate the offices, suspecting that the man must have dropped some explosives.”
Plateau State police command Public Relations Officer, ASP Apev Jacob, confirmed the incident. He said: “Anti-bomb squad went there immediately and they combed the area but found nothing harmful.”

It was gathered that the university authority had to make distress call to the police, which responded promptly by sending the anti-bomb squad to the school.
The bomb scare disrupted academic activities of students preparing for their examinations selected for Monday.
Staffers of the institution later went back to their normal duties, when no bomb was found.
