Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu was born in London, England, on 7 November 1988, to parents from Ibusa, Delta State, Nigeria.

Okogwu lived on the Aylesbury Estate in Southeast London until he was 12 with his parents and three younger siblings: Kelly, Kelvin and Marian. The family later moved to Plumstead, Woolwich, with Patrick attending St. Paul's Catholic School (now St. Paul's Academy) in nearby Abbey Wood. After earning 10 GCSEs, he went on to study A Levels at St. Francis Xavier Sixth Form College, earning A-levels in media studies, psychology, and religious studies.

At 12 years old, Okogwu conceived his stage name under which to make music after viewing the music video for So Solid Crew's "21 Seconds". Okogwu used a thesaurus in class, juxtaposing "tempah" (temper), which he saw under "angry", with "tinie" (tiny), to ameliorate the aggressive sound of "tempah".

Regarding his London upbringing, Tempah states, "London is one of the only places in the world where you can live in a council block and see a beautiful semi-detached house across the street. Growing up around that was inspirational, it kept me motivated"

Okogwu has said that he has considered furthering his education, stating "I definitely want to be in a financial position where I can head off to Cambridge or Oxford or somewhere. I would study something like music management or something extremely random like physics, which no-one would expect, as I like challenges"

Nigerian Hollywood actress ADEPERO ODUYE graduated from Cornell University, Adepero Oduye cut her teeth acting in short films before appearing in the highly lauded morality tale Half Nelson starring Ryan Gosling. She continued on to stage where she took on several roles before her Broadway debut in the musical FELA! She got Hollywood’s attention with her role in Pariah - a film about a 17-year old African teenager embracing her identity as a lesbian She will also star alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor in the upcoming film 12 Years a Slave directed by Steve McQueen.

Oduye is the one of seven children born to Nigerian parents. She is a graduate of Cornell University Oduye began appearing in short films such as Water and Fall, and in 2006 appeared in the independent drama Half Nelson. After several roles in off-Broadway production, in 2009, she debuted on Broadway in the musical Fela!

In 2011 she starred in the critically acclaimed independent film Pariah. She has received several awards, including a nomination for Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead. Oduye cast in the upcoming Steel Magnolias remake with the same title as Annelle Dupuy-Desoto, a role that had been originated by Daryl Hannah.

In 2013, Oduye appeared in Ava DuVernay's short film The Door part of Miu Miu's ad campaign known as The Women's Tales. She also starred alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor in the film 12 Years a Slave, directed by Steve McQueen.

Nigerian hollywood actress Carmen Ejogo’s first role in a major Hollywood film was in Metro in which she starred as Eddie Murphy’s love interest. She also stood out in two TV movies involving two historic black female figures - Sally Hemmings: An American Scandal (as Sally Hemmings) and Boycott (as Coretta Scott King). Born and raised in London, Ejogo is the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Ejogo née Douglas. Her father is Nigerian and her mother is Scottish. During her childhood, Ejogo remembers her mother as being "a bit of a hippie". Her younger brother is also named Charles Ejogo. She attended the Oratory Primary Roman Catholic primary school in Chelsea until 1984.

Prior to Hunger Games, Dayo Okeniyi was a relative unknown in Hollywood but his story is the stuff full of dreams. Born in Lagos, Dayo's family moved from Nigeria to Indiana where Dayo eventually earned a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communications. He moved out to California to pursue his dreams to act and within a couple of years his first feature-length film. Next he'll appear in Runner Runner with Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck.
